Gender Studies – Promoting Elderly wellbeing through   group-based activities

Issue 14 | 18th September 2026

Dear Beloved Alumni,

The Institute of Women in Religion and Culture organised a Gender Studies workshop for the final-year Seminarians on Friday, 18th September 2026. The program took place at the Seminary Chapel and featured a guest speaker, Mrs. Vivienne Gadzekpo Duker Esq. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Golden Chapter Foundation, a foundation which focuses on the emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing of the aged.

Her presentation focused on the theme " Promoting Elderly wellbeing through group-based activities".

In her presentation, she emphasized the need for the church, individuals and organizations to invest in the aged.

She notes that society and the church have overlooked the elderly, stressing the need for better care. She warns that a lack of meaningful social interaction directly leads to isolation and loneliness among seniors.

She reminded the church and the community of the need to offer older adults avenues for connection, meaningful purpose, and active learning. According to her, caring for their well-being builds vital awareness for a stage of life that awaits us all.

She spoke further with the Alumni office on the subject. Please find her briefing in the video attached.
