Seminary Non-Teaching Staff Retreat Focuses on Empowering Excellence and Personal Growth

On Friday, January 24, 2025, the non-teaching staff of the Seminary gathered for a retreat themed "Empowering Excellence: Uniting for a Greater Future." The retreat was designed to inspire personal and professional growth, teamwork, and a renewed commitment to the Seminary’s mission.

The day’s events were kicked off by the Vice President of the Seminary, Rev. Dr. Martin Adu Obeng, who spoke on the topic "Aligning with the Vision and Purpose." Rev. Obeng emphasized the importance of staff members looking beyond their core duties to recognize the Seminary’s positive impact on the Christian community. He urged them to use their positions as opportunities for academic and personal growth while striving to model God’s teachings both inside and outside the Seminary. "We must not only be employees but also ambassadors of the Seminary and of God’s work," he said.

Rev. Dr. Charles Gyasi, a faculty member, followed with an insightful session on "Collaborating for Greater Success." He stressed the need for staff to be competent, possess strong character, and communicate effectively to collaborate and achieve success. Dr. Gyasi reminded attendees that success is a continuous journey and encouraged them to embrace teamwork, mutual respect, and networking in their daily duties. "The work we do here is a collective effort, and we must work together for the greater good," he remarked.

The Director of Administration, Ms. Pamela Ablorh-Quarcoo, who spoke on "Personal and Professional Development," urging staff to invest in self-improvement. She advised the staff to cultivate new skills, reflect on their strengths and weaknesses, and seek feedback from others. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining good health and setting clear, achievable goals. "Excellence starts within. We must strive to better ourselves to better serve our institution," Ms. Ablorh-Quarcoo said.

During the retreat, team-building sessions were held, where departmental teams discussed challenges and brainstormed on possible solutions. Each department made a commitment to strive for excellence in 2025 and beyond, underscoring the collaborative spirit that the retreat sought to foster.

The retreat concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, with staff members feeling energized and committed to not only achieving personal excellence but also contributing to the Seminary’s continued success and positive impact on the broader community.

The Seminary’s leadership hopes that the retreat will serve as a catalyst for ongoing improvement, collaboration, and a stronger, unified team moving forward into the future.
