Rev. Dr. Setri Nyomi is a distinguished theologian with a profound background in theological education, pastoral ministry, and church leadership. Raised in Ghana, he received his foundational education in Christian public schools before embarking on his theological journey at the University of Ghana, Legon, and Trinity Theological Seminary in the 1970s.

Deepening his theological studies, Rev. Dr. Nyomi pursued a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Yale University Divinity School and a Ph.D. in Pastoral Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey. These academic pursuits solidified his expertise in theological scholarship and pastoral care, equipping him for impactful ministry.

Ordained in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Ghana in August 1980, Rev. Dr. Nyomi has served as a parish pastor in both Ghana and the USA, enriching his ministry with diverse pastoral experiences. Prior to his appointment as the General Secretary of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC), he held a significant role at the All Africa Conference of Churches as a Senior Executive. In this capacity, he oversaw Theology, Christian and Family Life Education, and coordinated the Seventh Assembly of the AACC.

Rev. Dr. Nyomi's commitment to theological education and church leadership is evident throughout his career. He contributed to the academic community as a lecturer at Trinity Theological Seminary in Legon, Ghana, and served as Vice Moderator of the Youth Working Group of the World Council of Churches from 1984 to 1991, nurturing the next generation of Christian leaders.

His ministry extends beyond geographical boundaries, shaped by transformative experiences abroad. Notably, his year as an exchange student in Vicksburg, Mississippi, USA, in 1972-73 deeply influenced his perspective on social justice and human dignity. This experience fueled his passion for addressing injustice in all its forms, advocating against racism, sexism, and other societal ills.

Currently serving as the Chairman of the Evangelical Presbyterian University College in Ho since October 2015, Rev. Dr. Nyomi continues to inspire and empower students to pursue excellence in education, leadership, and service. He is married to Akpene Esther and is a proud father of three children.
