About Trinity Theological Seminary

The Trinity Theological Seminary is the premier and leading ecumenical theological tertiary institution in Ghana and indeed in the West African sub-region. It is housed on a beautiful 70-acre site, at Legon in Accra and at the same geographical location as the University of Ghana.

- The campus is an ideal and serene setting for study, meditation, personal spiritual growth and development.
- The Seminary exists to offer Christian training, teaching, guidance, counselling, practical experience and an enabling environment to resource leaders for holistic ministry.
- The Trinity Theological Seminary was founded in 1942 in Kumasi and was moved to its present location in the early 1960s.

At the centre of the campus, signifying the centrality of worship is the beautiful Seminary Chapel. About 30 meters away from the Seminary Chapel is the Trinity United Church which is an interdenominational church for all categories of people.

Mission & Strategic Priorities
- To offer Christian training, teaching, and guidance to all persons who believe in Jesus Christ and confess him as their Lord and
- To educate men and women for the ordained ministry.
- To train church workers for continuous personal and professional growth and development.
- To offer professional and academic/theological programmes to qualified candidates to enable them use their gifts extensively and intensively to serve the Lord and His people.
- To serve as a theological research centre for both lay and ordained
Sponsoring Churches
The Trinity Theological Seminary was founded as an ecumenical effort in ministerial training. The current Sponsoring Churches are:
- Methodist Church Ghana
- Presbyterian Church of Ghana
- Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana
- Anglican Diocese of Accra
- African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
In our bid to extend training to others, the Seminary’s doors are also open to students from all other denominations and churches including Charismatic and Pentecostal Churches and ministeries. Our student population is therefore interdenominational.
We also have a rich cross-cultural environment that is enjoyed by foreign students and visiting faculty who come from different parts of the world.
Accreditation
Trinity Theological Seminary, attained its Charter in 2003, as an institution under the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission(GTEC) of the Ministry of Education. The Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees awarded by Trinity are fully recognized internationally.
Special Relations & Linkages
The Seminary has a special relationship with the University of Ghana through its Department for the Study of Religions. We also have links with other Theological Institutions both locally and internationally
